During battle, a healer duels with her mortal enemy in an unsettling form, facing an impossible choice that will forever forge her destiny as a warrior.
Directed by America Young and hailed as “Wonder Woman meets Game of Thrones,” Protectress is a dramatic fantasy action female empowerment short film from Saint Joan Productions. It centers on the power of choice and showcases women in leadership. Created by Joanna Ke, the fantasy serves as a proof of concept for a feature with series potential.
The film was temporarily viewable online from the end of August 2017 through October 2017 and was taken offline to commence a festival run. After a successful run with over 20 selections and 11 awards, the short was re-released online in March 2020.
